At the Sprint race for the Austrian GP, Mick Schumacher was not allowed to go past his teammate Kevin Magnussen, even though he felt he was faster. Safe to say that Schumacher Jr is on a roll after scoring his first points back at Silverstone.

The German driver bravely held off Lewis Hamilton for the longest time. Though the seven-time world champion ultimately made his way past the Haas driver, Schumacher managed a point for his team, through K-Mag. The 23-year-old’s defense resulted in a lot of time lost for Hamilton, securing K-Mag a P7 and 2 points.

Mick, though, did express his frustration post-race. Reportedly, the two Haas did want to swap places, but it simply did not happen. The German bemoaned, ” Yeah, I think the fight with Lewis was quite fun…it was surprising to see we were able to fight him that long. And also, I mean the Red Bull behind us was massively quicker so, yeah, it was nice feeling,”
“Yeah, I think we could have had points today. But for some reason or other, we didn’t or weren’t allowed to do that…” When asked what did he mean by “allowed to do that”, Mick revealed, “We were told to keep position. I mean I felt like I was quicker so…”

Schumacher finished P9 and couldn’t achieve points after Hamilton’s overtake over him. The young driver was clearly not too happy about the situation and even announced a team discussion later on.
K-Mag justified as Mick Schumacher complained
Kevin Magnussen, however, also revealed his side of the story. He said, “Yeah, I think Mick could’ve, he could’ve held Lewis. It did look like he was pretty consistently impossible for Lewis to get past him, when he had DRS,”

“But then he lost DRS at the end and got past because of that. And you know the team asked me to slow down to give Mick DRS, but it was already the next lap, just after they asked me to do that, that he got overtaken. So it’s not that I didn’t wanna help out, it’s just that it happened in a bit of a rush.”
